How reviews work

Editorial Review Policy

Last reviewed: May 2026

Crown Bonus Panel selects and reviews UK-facing online casino operators using a consistent set of editorial criteria. This page explains how we decide which operators to include, how we assess them, and what our scores and ratings represent.

Operator selection

We select operators based on the following baseline requirements:

  • The operator must hold a valid UK Gambling Commission licence
  • The operator must have an active presence in the UK market
  • The operator must have a publicly accessible website

Beyond these requirements, we use our editorial judgement to select a balanced and reasonably diverse set of operators. Not every UK-licensed operator is included. Inclusion is not a guarantee or endorsement, and exclusion does not imply a negative assessment.

Review criteria

We assess each selected operator against the following eight criteria. Each is applied consistently across all listed operators.

1Licence verification

We only include operators that hold a valid UK Gambling Commission licence at the time of review. We verify this against the public UKGC register.

2Site usability

We assess how easy the platform is to navigate, including the clarity of account sections, game browsing, and access to support or responsible gambling tools.

3Mobile experience

We note how well the platform performs on mobile browsers and whether a native app is available, including general loading speed and usability on smaller screens.

4Offer term transparency

We assess whether the operator presents its promotional conditions in a reasonably clear and accessible way, without burying significant limitations in small print.

5Payment methods

We note what deposit and withdrawal methods are accepted, with particular attention to common UK options including bank cards, PayPal, and bank transfer.

6Game selection

We give a general indication of the breadth of slots, table games, and live dealer content available, without recommending individual games.

7Responsible gambling tools

We check whether tools such as deposit limits, time limits, cooling-off periods, and self-exclusion are visible, accessible, and easy to use without requiring a support request.

8Customer support accessibility

We note what support channels are listed and, where testable, how accessible they are during standard UK hours.

Scores and ratings

The scores shown on this site are editorial comparison ratings produced by our own review team. They represent a weighted overall assessment based on the criteria above. Scores are presented out of 10 and are intended as a relative guide, not an absolute measure of quality.

Scores are not:

  • Official ratings from the UK Gambling Commission or any other regulatory body
  • Guarantees of quality, safety, or suitability
  • Based on aggregated user reviews unless clearly stated
  • Influenced by the level of affiliate commission an operator offers

Update frequency

We aim to refresh operator reviews periodically. However, the online gambling industry changes frequently, and details may become outdated between review cycles. Always check current terms, licence status, and available features directly with the operator.

Editorial independence

Our review content is produced independently of the operators listed. We do not allow operators to edit, approve, or preview editorial notes before publication. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains how affiliate commission relates to (and does not influence) our editorial judgement.
